Religion & Season 6

Over the last five years, Religion & has explored and extended the conversations at the intersection of religion and American culture. While we have always addressed some of the most pressing topics facing our field and culture, this season we are inviting our audience to engage with some of the most impressive thinkers and practitioners as we examine what can only be described as the most consequential political and cultural moment of the last fifty years. As political conflicts, temperatures, and diplomatic impasses are increasing and seemingly uncontainable, our theme for this season is “World on Fire.” We will discuss and debate the ways that this new norm is a result of an unparalleled and often unnamed relationship between religion, political ideology, and human suffering. From a discussion of the continued growth of Christian nationalism to conversations about the growing demands on philanthropic organizations, season 6 of Religion & will critically and unflinchingly address the most urgent issues facing the academy, our country, and the larger world. Join us monthly for these critically important conversations.

Religion & provides a space to engage some of today’s most pressing and relevant topics to the study of religion, spirituality, and the role of American culture. By bringing together diverse perspectives from some of today’s most prominent academics, activists, and public thinkers, this webinar series is an essential component to the Center’s 36-year commitment to fostering interdisciplinary conversation.

Episodes will be hosted live on Zoom and recordings will be available on YouTube, Facebook, and podcast platforms following the episode’s air date.
