Catholicism and the History of Sexuality Syllabus
In recent years, historians of Catholicism have become increasingly convinced that Catholic sex has a history. This is to say that both the ways Catholics have sex and how they think about sex have not always been the way they are today. This CSEM explores how Catholic attitudes and practices of sexuality have changed over time. It examines the medieval, early modern, and eighteenth century briefly before concentrating on modern period, defined broadly as 1880 to the present.
